When it comes to supporting local and national charities, Subaru puts money where its mouth is. Lots of money. Their Share the Love program is one of many credits to Subaru's rep that our entire North Reading Subaru team respects deeply. Here's a brief recap of the program's history and its most recent charitable feats.

Share the Love Event

Subaru's Share the Love Event debuted in 2008. The event is a season of charity running from about mid-November to the calendar year's end. During the event, Subaru donates hundreds of dollars for each Subaru vehicle purchased or leased from our new inventoryat hundreds of participating Subaru retailers.

Subaru's contribution benefits a handful of national charities that change each year. At the time of purchase or lease, the customer selects the charity they wish to support. In addition, each dealership makes another charitable contribution on the customer's behalf to a handful of selected local charities.

What the Numbers Look Like

As a result of 2019's, Share the Love Event, Subaru donated about $24 million to national charities. Additional dealership contributions totaled $6 million for local charities, bringing the combined total to $30 million.

The four national charities selected in 2019 include the ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels and the National Park Foundation. To date, the Subaru Share the Love Event boasts a whopping $175 million given to national and local charities.

Sharing Love at the Local Level

In addition to monetary contributions, the Subaru Share the Love Event presents other opportunities for participating dealers and non-profits to pay it forward. In 2019, Subaru retailers expedited a vehicle service donation totaling $1.1 million.

For the 2019 Share the Love kickoff event hosted at Subaru's headquarters in Camden, New Jersey, Subaru employees stepped up in a big way. They donated and packed some 15,000 KidzPacks, supplying 60,000 meals.

The meals sufficiently stocked North Reading, MA food banks, amounting to a school years' worth of weekend meals. The nutritionally balanced meals feed local school children over the weekend, keeping them nourished while they play or study.

We here at North Reading Subaru take pride in Subaru and in our community, so we're thrilled to represent our love for both through action. Here's to many more years of pride, service and community.
