Subaru of America has announced that the company and its dealers donated $30.4 million to charity in 2019 through its "Share the Love" donation project. "Share the Love" is an annual event in which Subaru donates $250 to the charity of its customer's choice for each new Subaru purchased between mid-November and the end of the year. The company's 632 nationwide retailers also participate in the program, including North Reading Subaru. We invite you to learn more about Subaru Share the Love projects here at our dealership in North Reading, MA.

Giving Back to the Community and Country

Since it started the campaign in 2008, Subaru has donated over $175 million to national and local charities. Over the 12 campaigns, the list of eligible charities has grown to four national and over 1,170 hometown charity groups. On a national level, "Share the Love" supports the ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels, and the National Park Foundation.

Local Subaru retailers choose one or two charities in their hometowns for their donations. They have supported over 695 local organizations like the Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure Foundation, a local wildlife support agency that operates summer camps for children. Here in North Reading, MA, our dealership partnered with organizations such as the Massachusetts ALS Association and MSPCA at Nevins Farm, in the past to help raise funds and organize the community into helping both pets and people alike!

Making a Difference, on the National and State Level!

Of the $30.4 million overall donation total, Subaru estimates that $10 million went to national charities, while the remaining $20.4 million stayed in local communities. Also, 221 Subaru dealers took part in a program to donate vehicle services, which generated $1.1 million in service donations from Subaru and its partners.

For the second year in a row, Subaru hosted a kickoff event at its US headquarters. Subaru employees gathered at the Camden, N.J. facility to donate and pack 15,000 "KidzPacks" donations to a local food bank. The "KidzPacks" program provides weekend meals to local children who face the prospect of hunger when school is not in session.

Sharing the Love with the Community

Subaru's Senior Vice President of Marketing Alan Bethke says the campaign is all about "making a positive impact on local communities nationwide." For the fourth year in a row, Subaru did not limit the total amount of its contributions.
