ÂWhether you're commuting into Boston or getting the whole family where they need to go around North Reading, Lawrence, Belmont, and Medford with confidence, the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek is designed to do it all with ease. From the legendary Subaru capability that allows you to take your adventures anywhere, regardless of weather conditions and terrain, to the terrific suite of safety and entertainment technology, the new Crosstrek allows you to have more fun behind the wheel. We know that there are many compact crossover SUVs on the market, so in an effort to help you make the most educated and informed decision, we're going to compare the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek to the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-5, allowing you to see side by side some of the ways the new Crosstrek beats out the competition.
2018 Subaru Crosstrek vs. 2018 Honda HR-V
- Whether it's the winter snow around Boston and North Reading or the rugged terrain and trips to the beach during the summer, every new Crosstrek model comes equipped with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The new Honda HR-V, however, comes equipped with standard front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive equipped models costing more money.
- Under the hood, the new Crosstrek provides you with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 152-horsepower, while the HR-V comes equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that falls short with 141-horsepower.
- With that extra horsepower combined with all-wheel drive, the Crosstrek allows you to tow up to 1,500 pounds. The Honda HR-V, however, it's suggested that you don't attempt to tow.
- The HR-V offers a slightly higher estimated fuel economy, but with 16.6 gallons of fuel capacity in the Crosstrek and just 13.3 gallons in the HR-V, the Crosstrek allows you to travel further on a single tank.
- Even in the deepest snows, the Crosstrek prevails thanks to 8.7-inches of ground clearance. The HR-V, however, offers 7.3-inches of ground clearance.
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the Starlink multimedia system that comes in every model, allowing you to enjoy hands-free control of your favorite mobile device functions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are an additional option on the HR-V that will cost extra as you climb trim levels.
2018 Subaru Crosstrek vs. 2018 Mazda CX-5
- The new 2018 Crosstrek starts at just $21,795 MSRP while the Mazda CX-5 starts at $24,150 MSRP, allowing you to climb to the premium trim level and still have money left over if you choose the Crosstrek.
- Whether you're commuting into Boston on a snowy winter day or taking your adventures off the beaten path, the Crosstrek allows you to do it all with confidence and enjoyment thanks to standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The Mazda CX-5, however, comes equipped with standard front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive equipped models cost even more.
- Every Crosstrek model comes equipped with a standard Starlink multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the Mazda CX-5 relies on its own Bluetooth paired infotainment system.
- The Crosstrek Achieves up to 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, while the CX-5 achieves up to 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
