What's New For 2023?
The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek receives several updates for the new model year. It now has an improved powertrain, with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. The Crosstrek is also equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with an eight-speed manual mode for a more responsive driving experience.
Performance
Crosstrek base, Premium, and Special Edition trims are set in motion by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder BOXER® engine (152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque) paired with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive and your choice of a six-speed manual or Lineartronic® CVT. Choosing the latter transmission also adds the X-MODE advanced traction management system for superb four-season control. Sport and Limited models provide more under-hood motivation for your Medford commute with a 2.5-liter BOXER® mill making 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft. Sport models also add an extra Deep Snow/Mud X-MODE setting.
Crosstrek Hybrid
Crosstrek's standard EPA-estimated 30 mpg combined rating is a solid number for an all-wheel-drive SUV. However, if you want a rugged utility vehicle with even more efficiency, Crosstrek offers an available battery-assisted variant (148 horsepower). The plug-in hybrid powerplant leverages an electric motor and battery to achieve an impressive EPA-estimated 90 miles-per-gallon equivalent (MPGe). And with ~17 miles of electric-only range, Crosstrek Hybrid allows you to get a feel for the EV ownership experience without committing fully to battery power. Charging takes just five hours with a simple 120-volt household power outlet and around two hours with Level 2 (240-volt) equipment.
